Lake Minneola High School gets new head football coach
MINNEOLA -- Lake Minneola High School’s head football coach, Mike McGlynn, has announced that he is leaving the position for personal reasons. McGlynn, a retired NFL player, brought a new spotlight to the school when he joined the Hawks in 2024.
Abre Leggins, the Hawks’ current offensive coach, is being promoted to the head coach position, effective immediately.
“He is great and the kids love him,” Principal William Roberts said.
Leggins, a former offensive lineman for the UCF Knights, joined the Hawks in 2024 after coaching three years at Ocoee High School in Orange County. Prior to that, he coached at Tohopekaliga and Osceola high schools in Kissimmee; and at Jones and Colonial high schools in Orlando.
“We thank Coach McGlynn for his contributions and wish him well,” Roberts said. “We are excited to see Coach Leggins advance to the head coach position, and we know he will continue to do great work with our Hawks.”

Day 105: Guess what? These amazing LMH Athletes went to GLE today to team up for literacy! They were thrilled to participate in LCS Literacy Week. Can you believe they read to over 1,300 students, from Pre-K to 5th grade? It was incredible! We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Grassy Lake for inviting us and to our athletes for spreading the love of sports and reading. They were all rockstars!
"How To College" event is this Saturday, February 1st at Cooper Memorial Library from 10:00am-12:00pm, doors will open early, and signups will be available for small group sessions for FAFSA assistance, applying to Lake Sumter, Essay and Resume help and filling out scholarship applications to the Community Foundation and more!!! (FIRST COME FIRST SERVE) Spanish interpreters!!! Free Coffee & Donuts!!! This will be a one of a kind, can't miss event for any senior still in need of assistance getting into school and finding money for school. Students are highly encouraged to bring their laptops!!!!!

Seniors and Parents of Seniors
Below are the updates/reminders for the week.
1). Caps and Gowns needs to be ordered. Only about 1/3 of the senior class has done so far. The price goes up on 1/31, and the last day to order is Friday, March 10th.
2). Tickets for Grad Bash and the Senior Trip are on sale. You can purchase on RevTrak (link below) or bring cash to my room 1-290. See previous posts for pricing and payment plan information. THE LAST DAY TO PURCHASE TICKETS FOR GRAD BASH IS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20th. ALL PAYMENT PLANS NEED TO BE FINISHED BY THEN AS WELL, NO EXCEPTIONS.TICKETS ARE ALSO NOT TRANSFERABLE, AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
3). Remember, Graduation is Friday, May 23rd at 7:00pm at the UCF arena. Many of you and your parents have asked about tickets. There is information about that on the Senior Class document, but I will be posting it on here as we get closer to that time.
4). Please see the attached documents for information and links to Senior Superlative, Quotes, Yearbooks, and Photos. Mrs. McMillian is in charge of all of that so please direct any questions to her.
5). Please continue to check the senior class 2024 - 2025 document for any information related to the rest of the year.
