Cecilia Peroni, a student from Lake Minneola High School, proudly represented the Swedish U18 National Water Polo Team at the 2025 Youth Nordic Championship held in Espoo, Finland, on November 28 - 30th. The tournament brought together top youth athletes from across the Nordic countries, and the Swedish U18 team delivered an outstanding performance, earning the Silver Medal. Cecilia led the Swedish team in goals and was named the team's MVP.
Competing at an international level is a major accomplishment for any young athlete. Cecilia’s participation reflects her hard work, dedication, and commitment to the sport of water polo.
Her achievement also comes during a time of growth for water polo in South Lake County. Lake Minneola High School’s inaugural water polo team recently completed its first season, including students from five different local high schools, and expanded opportunities for student-athletes in our district. Additionally, regional club programs such as the Orlando Thunder, which trains in Clermont, continue to provide year-round training that supports the development of young players.
We congratulate Cecilia on this remarkable milestone and celebrate her role in bringing home a Silver Medal for Sweden.
