Graduation Ceremony Participation Requirement

LMHS understand that its students are young adults who recognize the importance of self-managed behavior.  It is in this frame of reference that the expectations of daily attendance required for participation in graduation is set forth.

A graduation ceremony is an honor and a privilege; not a right.  To participate in the Lake Minneola High School Graduation Ceremony a student must be in average daily attendance 90% of the defined school year of 180 days. 

The Graduation Ceremony Participation Requirement went in to effect 2018-19 school year.

Each grade level must abide by the following to be eligible to participate in the Graduation Ceremony.

Current 12th Grade:  12th grade year 90% attendance per year required (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days). 

Current 11th Grade: 11th and 12th grade years must have 90% attendance per year for both years (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days per year).

Current 10th Grade: 10th, 11th and 12th grade years must have 90% attendance per year for all three years (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days per year).

Current 9th Grade:  9th, 10th, 11th  and 12th grade years must have 90% attendance per year for all four years (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days per year).

An absence is defined as the following:

  • Unexcused or excused
  • Missing four or more class periods in a school day

Attendance Committee:  An Attendance Committee will preside over appeals.  Students who appeal on medical conditions must provide the committee with a doctor’s note. 

Diploma Distribution:  Diploma’s will be distributed during or following the scheduled commencement ceremony held at the end of each year.

NOTE: Testing days or fieldtrips due not count as absences for students.
